Little Village Noodle House is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Honolulu. I’ve been here more than a dozen times and always enjoy the food. It’s most fun with a group so that you can taste more of their excellent food, but I sometimes go by myself for lunch.
At lunch I almost always order the Pecan Spinach Salad. It’s just enough for one for lunch and very delicious. I’m not sure how it made it onto the menu, but it used to be just a special listed on the board when I started coming to this restaurant 5 years ago. Since then, they’ve expanded and yet they’re still always crowded.
The salad is a mix of mostly spinach, with some other greens too. It’s dressed with a citrus dressing, topped with shredded chicken, candied pecans, black olives and a couple of pieces of pineapple. It’s always a hit with my palate and tummy.
Other favorites here are: Pan Fried Beef, Mongolian Beef, Steamed Chicken with Choi Sum, Honey Walnut Shrimp, & Dried String Beans. I’ve never had anything bad here. The kitchen can a a little slow when it’s busy, but it’s not horribly slow. The food is worth the wait.
What I love especially about Little Village is the NO MSG written all over the menu. In addition the food is flavorful and not oily. There’s also some atmosphere here which is a nice change from fluorescent brightness. Before expanding there was an arbor with grapes hanging, looking like something leftover from a previous Italian restaurant. It survived the remodel and hangs with new veggie shaped lamps in the new dining room.
