This well known North Shore burger joint is on my way to my volunteer gig guarding the turtles at Laniakea Beach. I often can resist going to Kua Aina, especially after their move to the new location. The food’s still the same, but it did loose significant charm in the move. Sometimes though, I just have to give into temptation and stop. I usually get a teriyaki burger with pineapple and cheddar cheese. It’s glorious, as are the fries. However, this week I decided to try and be a bit more healthy in my choice. The mahi-mahi sandwich has gotten good reviews, so I thought I’d give it a try. It rocks. Some of the freshest tasting mahi-mahi is grilled and fills the bun. Grilled onions are an option, but really add to this sandwich. There’s tomato and lettuce and a mayonnaise based sauce. Yum. It drips everywhere as you eat it, which is a Kua Aina standard. They have a shop also in Kakaako and apparently several in Japan. Well worth a visit when you’ve got a burger craving and also worth a visit for the mahi-mahi. Someday I’ll get around to tasting the rest of the menu. Well, maybe not.
